Crowdfunding Campaign for EcoSwell's Solar Distiller!
Our volunteers have been hard at work building a solar distiller - a structure that can turn seawater into clean drinking water using evaporation and condensation processes. Water, especially safe drinking water, is scarce in Lobitos and areas of the town will sometimes go weeks or even months without a water delivery. This is a pressing sustainability issue in Lobitos and many other similar towns. Here at @EcoSwell, we’re working towards a solution.
Jessa Clark, Jenny Turk and Joris Simaitis have been constructing the distiller and plan to move it to the Lobitos Fisherman’s Guild when it is complete, so Lobitos families can have access to safe drinking water in a central location. We will use energy generated by the solar panels EcoSwell previously donated to the guild to increase the efficiency of the distiller. As this unit is tested and improved, we hope to create a simple but effective model for reliably producing safe drinking water for Lobitos and other similar communities!
Right now, we are in the heat of a crowdfunding campaign for this project. We are only $30 away from our goal! The funding from this campaign will go towards the construction of a new distiller that takes into account all the improvements that we have identified. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
