Want to own a Tesla for free?
I've been battling a compulsion to drop a loan on a new Tesla Model X. This can be done pretty much everywhere but more realistically in cities with big airports. Turo.com is a company that manages the rental of your own personal video and I've used them a lot in the past. The problem is that all combustion vehicles need constant maintenance and the only way turn a profit and attract renters to cheaper rates than the corporate rentals is to do your own maintenance. I don't have the time for that any more, nor do I have the time to drive to the airport to drop them off. Most people don't want to ride our local transit train MARTA to get to the car even though it's a short 25 min ride. But after hours flying and connecting, you just want to get to your destination as quickly and conveniently as possible.
That being said, it's almost a full time job renting out a car.
But a Tesla on the other hand might be a solution to all these problems. These cars have virtually no maintenance. They have no oil, spark plugs, belts, transmissions, fluids of any kind (except the windshield washer fluid) and that just leave tires and brakes to change. But here is the best part. When Elon Musk pulls the trigger on Level 5 autonomous driving (driving with no one in the vehicle), I won't have to do anything except send a destination to my car at home to drive to the airport and pick up its renters. Then I can keep studying and working through my clerkship while the car pays for itself. One week's worth of renting is enough to cover the monthly payment. And it would be worth getting before the end of the year to keep supercharging free for the lifespan of the vehicle. All Tesla automobiles ordered after then will have to pay to supercharge. Supercharging allows the vehicle to add 90 - 140 miles of driving in half and hour. And when it's free, that gives more incentives for renters to want your vehicle.
I mean, have you guys seen Tesla Vision yet?
This upgraded AI system has 8 cameras and 12 sensors running through a dual GPU Nvidia water cooled supercomputer. It's expected to be twice as safe as any average driver and can operate completely hands free. Seriously! The car knows your calendar, you walk out to a pre air-conditioned vehicle ready to drive off and the door opens as you approach and closes after entering the car. It drives to your appointment, unless you tell it otherwise, and then just get out upon arrive and it parks itself until your are ready to leave. In that event, summon the car from the app and when you walk our of the building your car waiting to drive you where ever you want to go. Level 4 driving already exists but Level 5 SAE is waiting for regulators approval.

I can't believe how good the Tesla is compared to the the other auto makers.
I'm seriously looking at purchasing one for myself.
