How to Help ReSteem-BOT (spread the word)

in #resteembot7 years ago (edited)

Hello, friends.

@resteembot is growing really well. It has just been a few days and it already has 59 followers.
(Maybe YOU are gonna be number 60!)

But...
We can do even better, can't we?

Well... I too have been busy.

I ( @investigation ) made a program that automatically upvotes posts and advertises @resteembot on them (with comments).
A post is only upvoted if it's creator's reputation is between 20 and 45, and if it has more than 500 letters.
You can download that program from this link:

\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ DOWNLOAD \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

Good.
Now what?

Now I need your help.
I want you to advertise for me.
Unzip the archived program and read the instructions.
Run the program and let the magic happen.

(In the mean time you will also upvote new people. They might be tankful for it.)

Uncle Sam

Note 1 : Feel free to do whatever you want with the code. Change it however you wish.
Note 2 : If you fear that the program might be harmful, wait until a developer verifies it is secure.

Instructions:

  • download the package
  • unzip the package with an archiving program (WinZip or others)
  • open README.txt
  • Install Node.JS from the installer
  • open "userData.json" with text editor (notepad)
  • in "userData.json" write your name and password at the appropriate places (if your name is thename, replace "< YOUR NAME >" with "thename". Do the same for the password.)
  • save the file you just changed.
  • double click on "RUN.bat"
  • leave the program running

This looks shady as fuck. Seriously, you think it's a good idea to download some random code from a stranger that asks for your name and password and does God-knows-what?

You don't even specify owner key vs posting key.

If you give away your owner key, you will get owned. I would advise against running this script.

And even if this script is on the up-and-up, I believe its purpose is to bot spam comments on new posts. This is still spamming and subject to flags.

I'm flagging this post.

It is true that there are risks.
That is why I do not hide the code of the script.
Any programmer can easily verify that it is safe.

Just think about it.
@resteembot will only succeed if it has a good name.
A single scandal is enough for me to lose everything I worked hard for.
Even if I wanted to cheat people, I can't afford to do it. It is simply not worth it.

As for spamming... Go to my other profile - @investigation. Read the replies on my 'spam' comments.
The people are thankful for the information.
@resteembots followers multiplied by 5!
@investigation's - by 2.

So far I've only seen thankful replies, as well as some uninterested ones.
Nobody seemed angry.

If you have programming experience or know any programmers, please check the script.
Otherwise you are just throwing empty accusations.

Also - please withdraw the downvote.
It is based only on assumptions and distrust.
Not on facts.

You are spamming and that is a fact, so you get to keep my flag. Thanks for pointing out your other account. I'll give that one some flags too.

I can not stop you, so I won't try.
Yet I don't see why you would do that.
These comments do not bring me any money, therefore you can not make me lose anything by downvoting them.
I might lose a bit of reputation, or maybe a lot, but I will earn it back sooner or later.

If you think you can achieve something - go ahead.

As a user of the bot, I find it a reasonable service that caters to minnows. Many of the voting bots just don't pan out for us. To be honest, @resteembot doesn't usually pan out for us, but at least the investment is an affordable one.

That being said, I'm leary of entering any of my private keys in any program creates by someone else.

It is funny how just your comment earned more Steem than 10 decent posts of regular minnows.

The reason this bot even exists is to serve the small folks and give them a bit better chances. Do you not see that?

Instructions:

  • download the package
  • unzip the package with an archiving program (WinZip or others)
  • open README.txt
  • Install Node.JS from the installer
  • open "userData.json" with text editor (notepad)
  • in "userData.json" write your name and password at the appropriate places (if your name is thename, replace "" with "thename". Do the same for the password.)
  • save the file you just changed.
  • double click on "RUN.bat"
  • leave the program running

steem accout:
username ?
password ?
or what !

Just these two, yes, and only if you wish to help.
Are you a volunteer?

Give me a vote

Done!

...though my steem power is pretty low.
You didn't even get 0.01 $.

Help me

I downloaded your software, but I don´t know how to work with it! Any advice? I have the Icon on my desktop and now ...

Ok.

  • First unzip the archive with WinZip, 7zip, or any other zipping program.
  • Then open the folder and read 'README.txt'

I tried to keep the instructions as simple as possible.

I want to thank you for being the first person (other than @counterweight who's my friend) to volunteer for helping.

Thank you!

I read the "README.txt" but I don´t know how to paste that long password in to Node.js First ussername and PW in one?

I type : userData.json and : refference error

(Hi - I am the programmer behind @resteembot.)

Open userData.json with a text editor (notepad).
Then edit it to write your info.

The program will read that file and log in with the data you wrote.

I am sorry that the information wasn't clear enough. It's been a while since I had to explain stuff to non-programmers.

I will add more information (for other users) later.

Ok, I think this is not for me!

Yep. Seems that way. Thank you anyway for the effort.
I was really happy that someone else believed in the bot as well.

I type my username.json - again reference error

Forgive me when things go wrong

What do you mean? What went wrong?

I did not get a vote on my post, what a mistake happened

This bot does not upvote. Even if it did, it wouldn't bring anything worthy of the investment.
What the bot does is resteeming. It is similar to Twitter's retweeting.
The bot has a lot of followers and it's resteems attract attention. That's the point.

For more information, read all articles under the #resteembot category

Wait... Are you talking about a volunteer bot not upvoting you?

That is possible if the volunteer uses SteemIt at the same time as running the program.
In SteemIt a user can only give one upvote per 3 seconds.
If the volunteer upvoted something manually right before your post was to be upvoted, then your upvote might have failed.

I will simply go and upvote your latest post.

I've transferred to your account

i cant find the file to download
