Movie Review: Justice League, Batman Left Behind Superman
After the Wonder Woman solo film, this year DC Comics and Warner Bros re-release their latest movie. Like The Avengers a la Marvel, DC also has its own universe lho for superhero team named Justice League.
The first film Justice League presents a collection of Superhero DC Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman. The question is, will Superman reappear after the Batman V Superman character is turned off?
The story of the Justice League begins with the chaos that occurred after the death of Superman. Riots and crime happen everywhere. The peak comes Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds), a monster of the world's creatures who are also Darkseid's accomplices, the enemy of the Great Justice League. Steppenwolf comes to earth to find three Mother Boxes he will unite to destroy the earth.
Bruce Wayne aka Batman (Ben Affleck) is called to protect the Earth from the Steppenwolf attack. Unbelieving himself after Superman left, making Batman think to make a squad of Superhero-capable men who then he called Justice League.
He and Wonder Woman then scattered recruiting hidden superheroes. Until finally collected some members are Arthur Churry or Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Bary Allen or The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Victor Stone or Cyborg (Ray Fisher). These superheroes come with different characters and backgrounds that will be described later in the solo movie.
Turns out beating Steppenwolf is not as easy as imagined. Despite having gathered but the power of the Justice League still feels crippled. At that moment Batman feels the need Superman. Together with the Justice League personnel, Batman was trying to awaken Superman which he considered able to save the world from the Steppenwolf attack.
Can Superman live again? Can the Justice League thwart the intent of Steppenwolf to destroy the earth?
Directed by Zack Snyder who was forced to retreat at the ending project of his film, the first film Justice League was still leaving shortages here and there. Superhero characters that appear in this movie like Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash as just patches. The background was less so explained.
Meanwhile, despite appearing convincing, the villain, Steppenwolf also less get more portion. The origin and why he is obsessed with destroying the earth is not so explained, unless you are a faithful reader of DC comics, will certainly understand the story of the film.
The rest of Batman and Wonder Woman appear to dominate. As the originator of the Justice League, Batman was able to look fierce but fragile inside. Ben Affleck is able to reflect the character of Bruce Wayne aka Batman who was covered with guilt as the cause of death Superman. Meanwhile Wonder Woman still looks charming as usual.
