TREK Protein Flapjacks Review

in #review8 years ago

I am always on the lookout for new whole food, bars and snacks. While walking down the aisles of the supermarket, I came across these TREK protein flapjacks. I did not buy these flapjacks because of the protein, I am a big fan of flapjacks and anything with a decent amount of protein (without it being whey protein) is an added bonus.

When it comes to purchasing bars I like to look at the ingredients. Taking a closer look at these TREK bars, they are made from 100% whole foods, with no added sugar and have between 9-10g of protein, they have a 2:1 carb – to – protein ratio, which is great for exercise recovery.

Natural Balance Foods are the company that creates these amazing flapjacks. They are a company that offers healthy, nutritious, gluten free, vegan, wheat and dairy free products. TREK bars can be eaten as a snack, breakfast, on the go or as part of your lunch.

TREK protein flapjacks come in 6 flavours; Cocoa Oat, Original Oat, Cocoa Coconut, Banana Bread, Oat Raisin and Morning Berry. A box of 3 costs £2.75.

Nutrition information per bar (using Cocoa Oat Protein flapjack (50g), as an example.

With oat products, you often expect them to be dry and bland, but these bars are not. They are a little crumbly, but that is not much of a problem. When it comes to deciding to repurchase a bar, I not only base my decision on taste, texture etc, I also want to know that if I eat this bar it will satisfy me and keep me satiated. I can confirm that these flapjack bars are filling and very satisfying.

I enjoyed both the original oat and cocoa oat flavours and I would definitely purchase them both again.

These bars are great, but I do not eat them every day! They are a great snack or something to have if you are in a rush and want to eat something but avoid snacking on bars every day.

Have you ever heard of tried TREK bars before, if so let me know your thoughts!
