The Dark Tower is a fantasy, fiction, and horror film to be released on 25 August 2017. The film’s story is from The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, and efforts to make it into a movie are going on since 2007.

STORY- The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O'Dim, also known as the Man in Black, determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black .

The story revolves around Roland Deschain-The Gunslinger, a sort of medieval frontier knight whose key weapon is not a sword but a pair of guns. He is seeking for revenge and is on a quest to save his world by reaching a tower, surrounded by a field of dull pink roses, which stands at the nexus of time and space. The visions of the tower haunt him. He feels that there a lot of things which are very powerful that pull him as he journeys to this destination. However, there are also a lot of obstacles he has to face.
The story is in the backdrop of the Mid-World, which is like that of an alternate timeline that runs parallel to our world. It has parts of our Old World but also some other supernatural qualities to add to it. As Roland embarks on the journey where the world has changed and moved on, he tells the stories of his so-called better days, the times when Gunslingers were noble and prosperous. The film stars Idris Elba as Roland. Director and co-writer, Nikolaj Arcel feels that Idris is a perfect version of what Roland is. Then there is Matthew McConaughey as Walter Padick, an evil and old sorcerer who wants to reach the tower and rule over its infinite kingdoms. The film revolves around the journey and finally what the end would be.
Will Ronald Deschain be able to save his decaying world and how far will he go to fulfill his aim forms the plot of the film.
