Seqouia national park

Labor Day Monday, Sept 4th 2017. An Impromptu small road trip leaving from Los Angeles. At the spur of the moment we commenced our trip to Seqouia National Park at 2am in morning. After tiring day of work, we halted at few gas station, napped for an hour and kept moving until we reached our destination at 9am, making the four hours drive in seven hours.

At the entry point there wasn’t any rangers present, so after being halted at the check point for 15 mins, we just ensued into the park. Little skeptical of being caught inside for not having ticket but also little jubilant for not paying also.

At 9:10am we arrived to this tunnel rock, which is basically a big rock somehow sitting on top of few rocks making it look like a tunnel. As my wife pulled out my Nikon D7000 and started taking few pics she realized. Oh Snap! No memory card in the camera. “Amazing!!!” she exclaimed and annoyingly she kept the camera back inside the car and pulled out my phone Asus Zoom 3. Henceforth all the pics were taken from my phone.

At around 9:20am while driving there was a shrilling pinch on my back. I decelerated the car down and asked my wife to look this mysterious pinch on my back. She pulled a napkin and grabbed this little thing of wilderness from my t-shirt. She brought a small iron bar from the back of my car and started rubbing over the section to mitigate the pain.

It was 10:30am and we finally reached our first major destination the ‘Moro Rock’. We had to ascent up about 300 stairs to reach to this spot. Elevation of 6725 feet, the gusty wind had my wife’s hair all over her face. The location on the top was barricaded but provided a sumptuous view of the mountains.

After descending down we waited for the bus for about 30 mins and then decided to walk along the bus route to the next location which was the Tunnel Log. After ambulating through the wilderness for about 30 mins and snapping bunch of pictures from the phone we finally reached the tunnel log. It’s a ginormous tree which probably fell in 1937 and they carved the tree for car passing.

While rambling through the coppice I came through this interesting truck of tree which kinda of resembled like a callous turtle protruding out of the tree.
