HPRowing - 1 - A Complex Obsession

in #rowing7 years ago (edited)

"All what you have to do is row for 2,000 meters, how complex could it possibly get?"

For those of us who have participated in rowing or an endurance sport, through either the recreational or high performance levels, know just how complicated our sport can be. We spend countless hours in the boat repetitively drilling the same movement over and over again in the impossible pursuit of that ever elusive 'perfect' stroke. On the indoor rowing machine, we spend our winter months conditioning ourselves to become better athletes.

As novices, we mistakenly view this process as simple. However, as we continue on our journey of getting faster, we start to form many questions and begin to realize how complicated our endurance sport actually is. It is through this process that we develop a passion for rowing and dream of becoming faster.

For many rowers, this dream is shortly lived. Although the majority of athletes experience significant and quick improvements during the beginning of their rowing career, the majority of them stagnate soon after while a minority of them make it to the highest levels. This is due to the vast amount of misinformation that has been spread throughout the rowing community.

This is what my blog aims to fix. I plan to make posts containing the training tips and secrets that will make you faster on the water and improve your 2K score on the ergometer. If you want a faster 2K or 6K time on the erg, make the first varsity boat in your club, or just become a better athlete, I welcome you to read and learn about how to get faster.
