Hello, everyone! Today I’ ll break the next big illusion about Russia and vodka. Yes, we are not the worst alcoholics on our Earth. According the International Health Organization’s research Russia shares only the forth place with Poland. The first one is Lithuania, then Belarus, then Latvia and only then Poland and Russia. But jokes aside, I should admit - we drink a lot. And unfortunately it became not fashion to drink vodka, today russians drink beer, not good beer. Beer alcoholics is the real problem of Russia. You will never find an event without alcohol. The rivers of beer are an integral part of each and every party. By the way vodka is the most healthiest sort of alcohol. If you have any kind of digestion problems it’s the only one alcohol you can try, because it’s distilled. But certainly it’s better not to drink. Russians don’t understand this phrase, so if Russian gastro doctor will determine a gastritis, he will recommend to drink vodka, because he knows-the patient will drink anyway, so let it be less harmful. The main problem is the yang generation doesn’t know it, they think beer is something light, not sireous and drinks it as limonade. Alcohol swallows whole Russian villages, in each family we have an alcoholic. My grandfather has 7 children and one of them is an alcoholic. It’s my uncle. We treated him, argued with him, he lost his wife and doughter, but nothing helps. After ten years of constant drinking there some changes is in the human brain. The alcoholism is very tough to treat.
Our government makes weak attempts to fight with the alcoholism: alcohol is forbidden for sale in days off and after 8 p.m., but it’s not enough for that huge problem. They try to promote a healthy way of life, build lots of swimming pools, hockey stadiums, but all these things don’t available for the poor. But the alcoholics mostly are poor.
And here I wanted to tell you about the other side of a social state. Russia pays pancions and benefits. And the alcoholics drink on these money. If they wouldn’t have benefits, they will have to work and then they won’t have time for drinking. Actually I even don’t know where is the real root of this problem and where is the salvation. I just want you to know, that we are on the 4 th place in the world, we are not leaders. And 6 children of my grandfather are scientists and engineers. And Russia is not only a dying village. But it’s the part of Russia.
