Boks VS Pumas- 19-08-2017
With 3 wins over a tired French team, the Springboks still had a lot to prove after last year's horrific season.
Missing Captain fantastic, Warren Whitely, Eben captained the team for the second time.
His captaincy looked stable, with a lot of communication to what may be called, "the leadership team" (Beast, Siya and Elton).
My takings from the game:
Referee Romain Poite was critisised in the B&I Lions vs NZ game which ended the series at a draw.
Arguably, he dis-allowed a try and allowed a try by the springboks that kind of cancels each other out.
The try that was allowed, let Skosan get his first test try after being denied one against the french.
We won by more points than the favourites, but failed to secure a bonus point, leaving NZ on top of the log.
(Wallabies, are under fire, even though they won the 2nd half against the All Blacks in quite an awesome come back)
My stand out players:
Elton Jantjies took charge and proved that he is the best 10 in the country.
Coenie Oosthuisen showed his strength in some solid scrums.
Malcolm Marx showed great defence and had a few runs.
Jaco Kriel won a important turnover which I think may have boosted the tempo of the team.

Jantjies has been getting a lot of criticism lately but to be fair at the moment he is one of our better fly halves. i am however concerned for Curwin Bosch. He has had a good year in the Super rugby comp but SA is known for calling up player while they are still too young and then losing them as the years go on. lets hope this is not the case with this talented young player.
Agreed, I do recall a young Elton Jantjies having a shocking test at Soweto Stadium and thought then that he is still a bit too young.
However, have a look at how NZ does it.
If you are the best, you play, but they do tend to allow the inexperienced players a lot more bench time than game time, and bring on the youth in less stressful situations.
I am sure that Handre Pollard will also be on the radar.
