American "discord" and "distrust" are Russia's fault according to RussiaGaters

 An ongoing annoyance from #RussiaGate nutcases has been their idea that Putin is sowing "discord", "division", or "distrust".What people who say such a thing are trying to weasel in is that the American public doesn't have LEGITIMATE reasons for "discord" and "distrust". Don't ever let this implication slide: call it out for the bullshit that it is;

Long before anyone dreamed of a "President Trump" this country had the 2008 Obama and Ron Paul campaigns, the Tea Party, Occupy Wall Street, the 2012 Ron Paul campaign, and Black Lives Matter. ALL of those movements were explicit repudiations of the status quo and Establishment.

From all over the ideological spectrum, distrust and discord have been growing for years. This was so much so that ur-Establishmentarian David Brooks wrote a column in the summer of 2012 where he called on the American people to "admire" and "be grateful for" "just authority".

Lucky for Brooks, he now has the RussiaGate narrative with which to smear pesky "ungrateful" populists who don't "admire" his sacred authorities and institutions.
