The Sound of Heaven
There are lots of traditional music instrument around the world, so many of them. But why Sape’ and how do i call it?
It is just Sape’ or Sampe or Sampek which all the same as it comes from the same language with a little bit differential in accentuation.
I’d rather to call it Sape. And what about it?
It’s a string instrument music with four strings, with one string carrying the melody and the accompanying strings as rhythmic drones. Nowadays, it’s been modified into more than just 4 strings and just become more modern.
Yes, it depends at the person who play it….it’s all back to the man behind the gun, right?
Sape, which still being made in Borneo until now. Generally it’s made from Adau wood, but since it become hard to find, a modern Sape made from other type of wood.
You might have to listen how it sounds first before saying. It’s so magical, it is like hearing the sound of mother nature even originally it was restricted to a form of ritualistic music to induce trance.
And listen up.…it’s just the sound of heaven.
