You cannot serve God and wealth

Be blessed in the name of Jesus.

I stop to think about the constant struggle that man develops within himself, in his eagerness to seek more what is in his natural world than what is in the spiritual. In other words, man has forgotten the cultivation of his "Being" to focus more on "Having." The consequence of this is that man has moved further away from God because of his desire for wealth.

This was warned by the Lord Jesus when he said to his disciples: "No one can serve two masters; because he will hate one and love the other, or esteem one and belittle the other. You cannot serve God and wealth" ( Matthew 6: 24).

The eagerness is the element that has distorted the essence of man. Man has left his spiritual essence to cover himself with the material layer. Man has stopped dealing with his search for God to deal with things that have caused him anxiety, tension and pressure.

The Lord Jesus, aware of this reality, urged his disciples not to be anxious and full of anxiety for the things of this world, since the heavenly Father knows the daily needs of his children (Matthew 6: 25-34).

In order for man to concentrate more on the search for God and turn away from the desire for wealth, the Lord Jesus once again exhorted his disciples to devote themselves to making treasures in heaven and not on earth. This he expressed as follows in Matthew 6: 19-21:

19 Treasures are not made on earth, where moth and urine corrupt, and where thieves mine and steal; 20 But made treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor urine corrupts, and where thieves do not extract or steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Jesus makes his warning against greed and anxiety, which implies that the things of this world are uncertain and transitory, but the heavenly are imperishable.

Once again, dear reader, put your trust as Jesus says in the things above and not in the things below. To treasure in the heavens is to enjoy great riches that will never end. The holy spiritual city awaits us. Golden streets, a incorruptible glowing city. Doesn't this all seem like a glorious treasure that God has already prepared for all who love him? So, it is better to serve God and cultivate our "Being", than to serve material wealth in the desire to "Have."
