I know you aren't asking for donations, but I would like to give you a small amount. From what I read, none of this was your fault. You are not obligated in any way to do this. I don't think your reputation was hurt by this and yet you decided to try and help people. The fact that this is weighing on your conscience (even though it's not your fault) says a lot about you as a person.
