The REAL issue with schools
You might think I'm going to complain about the thing kids are taught. No, instead I'm talking about an issue that actually makes more sense to fix, sleep. Yes, sleep.
Teenage students are currently not getting enough sleep to promote healthy growth. Teenagers sleep patterns tend to be irregular. They will stay up late and sleep through the morning. Assuming a teen stays up till 2:00 a.m and school starts at the average U.S start time of "8:03 a.m"(cdc.gov) This means some teens will only be getting 5 hours to 5 hours and 30 minutes of sleep. You might be thinking why didn't I say 6 hours, well that's because you have to account for driving to school, eating breakfast, and getting ready.
Schools should seriously consider starting later in the day. I'm not saying they should start at noon, but I am saying they should start at a more reasonable time like 9:00 a.m. Then Timmy the kid who stays up till one in the morning will be getting 7 hours of sleep. This is a much needed improvement parents and students should all push their schools to do.
