“Nort, toss me the screwdriver.” Shawn hollered, “Yessir.” Nort bent down to grab the screwdriver and threw it to Shawn. Shawn caught it and went back to work without saying thanks. He unscrewed the mech’s thought panel and examined it, nothing seemed to be wrong, it looked good as new as a matter of fact.
“There’s always something wrong with these bots, the Buffalo series are always malfunctioning for no damn reason at all, them descants don't care if we don't win this war and they don’t have any reason to worry if we needa do the extra work to keep their dumb machines working!” “They just care about the money involved in the war.” Nort quickly started nodding his head and agreeing with his handler.
Shawn put the metal sheet back over the panel and started putting the screws back in “Best check if any of the wires got something wrong with them.” Shawn sighed, “Boy, go get me the welding kit and the angle grinder.” Nort nodded up and down “Yessir, I’ll go get it quick as the Ralem Run” Shawn nodded in approval as Nort dashed off to get what he requested.
Nort opened their tool cell and took out the shiny blue welding kit with the words Murcahd emblazoned on the front and back, he picked up the heavy yellow angle grinder and put it on his shoulder to help support its weight. He closed the door to the tool cell with his foot and jogged back to the Buffalo.
“Here sir.” Nort placed the welding kit and the angle grinder at his handler’s feet. “Good job.” Shawn said as he put on his face protector and picked up the angle grinder. He took out a marker and outlined where he was gonna cut. He brought the saw several inches away from the machine’s cold metal torso and pulled the trigger, the tool whirred to life as he started cutting into the mech. He cut out the square he had drawn and took it off the mech.
“Ah, I got it, the brain wires got chewed threw my a mouse or somethin’, welp,” Shawn threw his hands up in the air, “better fix em’.” He felt in his toolbelt for some electrical tape as Nort watched him contently. “Here we go, got some.” he clicked his tongue and started wrapping it around the wires. “Good as new.”
He replaced the metal sheet and welded it back up. “Alrighty, Nort, can I trust you to take this thing back to its holding unit without causing to much trouble?” He smiled at Nort as he nodded and got up from where he was sitting. “I’m gonna go head to lunch now, good luck boy.”
Nort grinned “Yessir, thank you, sir.” Shawn headed off to lunch while Nort clambered up into the mech and turned it on. He stomped through the room and out into the hall and started toward the mech’s holding unit. Once he got there a voice came from a speaker to his left “Identification?” He looked up towards the camera.
“Norton Albertine, Bond Servant, Handler: Shawn Stallard, correct?” “Correct.” Nort repeated. The gate opened and Nort drove the mech into the room. He parked it between the other mechs and switched it off. He got out and shut the door.
He exited the room and started walking towards the servant’s quarters. To eat his lunch.
