NASA wants to bring rocks from Mars to Earth, and it's not a simple task
Although machines and robots built by man have trodden Mars, they have never returned to our planet, so we have never brought samples of the red planet. The Curiosity, one of the probes that has given us more information about the planet, can analyze stones thanks to its robotic arm, but it is not the same as having samples for analysis on Earth, through a human. Not only for ease, but because on Earth you can do a much more thorough analysis.
But if you think about it, bringing rocks and geological samples from Mars is not easy (if not, it would have already been done), because not only does it have to take a probe there and land correctly, but it will also have to collect samples (so that what will have to remain functional after landing, something that is not always achieved), and take off again, in addition to entering the Earth.
Of the Moon we do have samples, obviously, but because we have been there. In fact, the first (and only) samples we have of the natural satellite are from when we stepped on it for the first time, and not before.
Mars
Specifically, we have 270 kilos of samples from the Moon that we brought between 1969 and 1972 for 6 missions, at least from NASA, although only about 20% of them have been examined, of which only half remain, since the stones are They have been reducing in dust. To bring the first samples of Mars, however, we will not have to wait to step on the planet.
A round of applause to these people who day by day congratulate us with their beautiful content. Congratulations and good wishes.
