The Peruvian project that triumphed in the Rover Challenge of NASA

Students from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) created a vehicle capable of running on Mars or the Moon that is armed in less than 10 seconds.

The Deimos project of students of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) left the name of Peru on the high ground when it won the Jesco von Puttkamer award, awarded to international teams in the NASA Rover Challenge.

The Peruvians traveled to the United States to participate in a test in a circuit armed by the space agency in Alabama, where they competed against university students from the United States, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Spain, among other countries. Its design stood out for the ease to be armed.

"We have done the folding of the vehicle in nine seconds. The average was a minute and a half or two minutes. We consider that one of the characteristics that we should maintain in future projects ", explained one of the members of the Deimos project in Ampliación de Noticias.

The vehicle is made of high quality aluminum, which allows it to be tough but not as stiff as steel.
