Of the sea turtle species that exist, six have the possibility of living in waters of Latin America and the Caribbean. One of these is called Green Turtle Chelonia mydas, Hawksbill Eretmochelys imbricata, Loggerhead Caretta caretta, Lora Lepidochelys olivacea, Kemp Tortoise Lepidochelys kempii and Leatherback Dermochelys coriacea. In addition to the fact that these turtles are threatened by fishing, the destruction of beaches for nesting and feeding sites at sea, as well as the overexploitation of their eggs, meat and shells, all these turtles face the drastic impact caused by the effects of the change climatic in the earth or in the oceans.

Some WWF researchers are monitoring the turtles by satellite to know how the increase in water temperature could have an impact on their migrations. A place where they live is the Arabian Gulf, in that part where the turtles inhabited that area of their feeding as the water reaches or exceeds 35 ° C. Also in other parts of the world, turtles may be affected and forced to change their eating habits and behavior.

Also turtle hatchlings face predators when they have to leave their nest for the first time to reach the sea, they also confront another different threat that is less visible to them. Some studies may indicate that climate change could affect the sex balance of these turtles, given that above 22 degrees Celsius only females are obtained. With fewer males the populations will be less able to reproduce, in addition the more extreme temperatures can cause the mortality of many turtles in the nests during the fertilization of the eggs of the turtles, this can make them more vulnerable to extinction.

Here I leave a 🐢video about that wonderful animal that are the turtles🐢, to explore more about them, how amazing they are and to learn a little more about their habits and customs.
