Experiments With Earth Batteries To Produce More Power

in #science7 years ago

I have been experimenting with producing power from the earth using metal rods stuck in the ground. By trying different combinations of metals and locations you can increase the total power output of your earth battery.

I have so far been experimenting with iron nails, cooper rods and aluminum fins in order to find the best combination of metals to get the most power out of the earth.

You can combine multiple earth batteries as well to increase the total output. With enough earth batteries you could do some useful work. For an off grid homestead this is very valuable.

Also I am using just tiny bits of metal but if you use large, long rods pounded deep into the earth you should get very good results compared to my proof of concept experiments.

By experimenting with the location you can also get higher output.

North and South alignments seem to work the best.

I am saving up tin soup cans to built a series of earth batteries in order to increase the output to a usable level.

great article

very interesting - has pipe size made a difference?

Yes, the width and length will make a difference. The more metal you get in the ground and the deeper it is, the more power you can get.

I hope to make some using grounding rods and other long metal pieces. I want to put them in very deep and see what sort of voltage and current I can get out of them.
