Supermeat has raised $3 million to create "Clean Meat"

in #science7 years ago (edited)

A startup from Israel called Supermeat has raised $3 million in seed funding through an Indiegogo campaign to produce cheaper, healthy meats, without the animal slaughter and environment effect.

It’ll be a while before the general public sees SuperMeats products in their local stores, the company estimates it’ll be at least three years. They also predict that prices of clean meat will be roughly the same, or possibly cheaper as they do not require as many resources.

Lab-grown meat is an interesting topic, it is definitely a disruptive industry. I would imagine most farmers would be against the idea of it. They should probably be looking at how big of a threat it would be towards their business.

Do you have any thoughts on this? I personally do not have a problem with lab-grown meat and see it as a positive move for out future and planet.
