Citizen science is a great way to involve children and adults in the discovery of nature and contributing to scientific research and conservation. Project FeederWatch through Cornell University is a great way to get involved in citizen science. You can learn more at the Project FeederWatch website.
I typically watch birds on Saturday and Sunday. This is my report for 10-11 February 2018.

Bird Watching Notes
Saturday
Saturday was a partly cloudy day with a high temperature of 14 degrees (F) and a low temperature of 6 degrees (F). There were light snow showers during the day.
I caught a glimpse of one of the coyotes in the distance as in hunted for small critters. The coyote still seemed to be favoring one leg.

Sunday was partly sunny with a high temperature of 23 degrees (F) and a low temperature of 3 degrees (F).
Cooper's Hawk
This Cooper's Hawk sat in the tree for over an hour watching my bird feeders.
I must apologize for the quality of these photos, I was taking the shots through a dirty window.

Dear @etcmike to be able to understand well what you were doing, and to better decipher the reports of data and histories that you presented, I went to see the original project and I was amazed how well it was structured. In his page https://feederwatch.org/ I got a lot of information of interest, but above all I appreciated the enormous amount of photographs of birds that are there and the possibility that they are allowed to incorporate others, so I hope to have some quality and be able to upload it in the future. The photos of the "EyeWitness" BirdSpotter Judge's and People's Choice Winner of the 23rd and 24th of February are impressive. I'm a university professor in Food Technology in Venezuela, and I was surprised by the size and scope of the project you represent. The contribution to the scientific community is invaluable. Your project and what they do I loved, so in the coming days I will continue reading more about it. My work as a Professor in the food area consumes me almost all my time, and it is possible that I can not participate directly, but rest assured that I will do a lot of promotion, especially among my colleagues who are marine biologists. It describes the efforts to monitor bird populations and how citizen scientists have played a role in conservation efforts.
As a retired workaholic I know what it is like to have a career consume the majority (if not all) of your time.
My background is math and physics (Masters Degree level). I say this because even though biology is not my area of expertise, even I can contribute to this citizen science project. You just have to be an observer to participate.

Just wait until the adult Red-winged Blackbirds arrive. They are really neat birds. Then you will know why they are called Red-winged blackbirds.
