RE: The Amateur Mycologist #15 - Hericium erinaceus - The Lion's Mane

in #science7 years ago

I have found Lion's Mane mushrooms on a wide variety of deciduous trees, including ash and maples, in the Great Lakes region, Arkansas, and in the US Pacific Northwest. And, like Oyster Mushrooms, they can provide multiple harvests in a season, if the conditions are right. So Lion's Manes are a good mushroom for a forager to put on their maps and foraging route, if they find one growing in the wild. I think they are one of the tasty, easy-to-identify mushrooms.

I hope you find plenty of them this fall! Even if you don't eat them, they are so cool to look at and appreciate! Mushrooms are so diverse!
