An extensive study found that two-thirds of those who tried cigarettes one-time became smokers daily, even for a temporary period.

Statistics from the United States, Britain, Australia and New Zealand revealed that 60.3 percent of citizens in these countries had tried smoking, and 68.9 percent had developed it into a daily habit.

The authors stressed the need to stop smoking cigarettes.

The synthesis analysis, published in the Journal of Nicotine and Tobacco Research, was based on data from 215,000 people in eight surveys between 2000 and 2016, which were reported in the Global Health Data Exchange Program.

"This is the first time that the relationship between the smoking test and its transformation into a regular habit has been recorded in such massive data," said Peter Haggick of the University of London's Queen Mary College.

"We found that the rate of switching from a smoker for the first time to a daily smoker was surprisingly high, which confirms the importance of abstaining from testing cigarettes from the first moment," he said.

"The United Kingdom is experiencing a dramatic decline in the number of smokers currently, and this is consistent with the recent findings that only 19 percent of the 11 to 15 year olds have never tried smoking, so the good news is that we The right way."

In 2016, the proportion of smokers in Britain was 15.5 percent among adults, about 7.6 million people, compared to 19.9 percent in 2010, according to data from the British National Bureau of Statistics.

In the same period, data indicated that 19 percent of those aged 18 to 24 were smokers, compared to 25.8 percent in 2010.

Deborah Arnott, executive director of the Action On Smoking and Health Anti-Smoking Association, called for more government control of tobacco sales.

The hardest part is to break away from the habit of smoking, the nicotine addiction wears off after 2 days.
If you really want to smoke something , you can try herbal mix, made with mullein, damiana, rose, catnip, or peppermint, you name it! There is a whole world of plants out there that can be smoked and helps with the recovery process during nicotine withdrawals with less harmful consequences.
Remember that any form of smoking is bad for you , it's carbon monoxide after all.
For those prone to anxiety, and live in a country that allow you to, you can vape medical marijuana too , it works as an expectorant and has vasodilatating effects that will help clear the phlegm accumulated while smoking tobacco.
