RE: Scientific innovations for human problems [Forest protection] [Fire]. Introduction. Part 1. Internet of Trees (Wildfire detection/monitoring system)
holy shit. a red glowing mountain
how about less monocultures? and more native ecosystems? they wont burn as fast and also dont need any wireless in the forest... ;-)
well,
1/ I'm not sure I understand correctly what you meant by "more native ecosystems".
I don't understand why more native ecosystems -> "they wont burn as fast"
One of the causes of the wildfires is electrical fire (fire caused by electrical systems).
If we have habitats without the latter, then we have less fires.
2/ "how about less monocultures?"
I'm not sure 100% here as well what you meant.
Anyway your comment set me thinking about redesigning the forests.
thanks
Just like Jacque Fresco with his Venus Project (https://www.thevenusproject.com/)
was trying (and progenies are still trying) to redesign the culture in order to change human behaviour,
maybe it's a good idea also to try to redesign our forests, so that we would have less fires.
Somthing like we have some little groups of trees (kind of "islands") and non-trees cultures around them ("ocean")
(so that fire indeed won't spread such fast). But I suppose that ultimately trees naturally (pollination/fertilization)
might replace other cultures (I'm not a professional botanist though).
