A Paper Sensor That Gives Warning About Contaminated Water

in #science7 years ago

New York: The contaminated water is still the biggest cause of disease in poor countries of the world. For poor countries of Africa and Asia, a paper test has now been created which will alert immediately if it found harmful health ingredients in the water.

This test made from the small piece of paper, it is made by the scientists of University of Bath, which gives the alerts of water that it is clean or polluted before drinking, which will not only help the poors but also the tourists.

This censor works exactly like Luttspapes, which is commonly used in school and college experiments. As a lutmus paper, its color changes when this paper censor is inserted in more acidic water. The weight of this paper is only one gram, a thin layer of carbon electrodes and electrically 'electric bacteria' has been mounted.

If there is a form of water in the water, there are chemicals of insecticide, heavy metals and other small pollution, it identifies those poisonous compounds and gives a 'warning signal'. This signal can be displayed in another way by changing colors.

Apart from this, this paper is very useful for people living in tourists, mountainous areas and any hotel. If there is dangerous bacterial water in the water, the paper test also shows it and it does not take much time. The next step is working on sending censored information to a mobile phone or other device via wireless.

The main member of the paperwater test team, Dr Merryla De Lorenzo, head of the chemical engineering department at Bath University. According to them, making and using a paper test is very easy and this whole process is very environmentally friendly.

Dr. De Lorenzo has said that the UN has declared access to clean water and drainage as the basic human right. Paper test is a revolutionary way of testing water.

It should be a necessary instrument for all the countries of the world.

I agree with you, this should be introduced specially in 3rd world countries. There is a lot of problem of clean drinking water.
