#2 Time Travel..!! An interesting example from Mahabharat. @ Innerpeace
Previous Post explained about the concept of different time dimensions. The concept is very well explained by the story from the Indian Great Epic Mahabharata. Which is called the Great Indian War.
There was a King way before the Mahabharata time, the name was King Kakudmi, ruling an advanced kingdom under the sea leading a very prosperous life. He had a beautiful daughter called Revati. Like all the dads in the world, he wanted to find a very strong and worthy man for his daughter.
He was in a search of such a person whose strength is the greatest of all and who could protect his daughter with a good heart. He could not find such a man in his timeline, so he decides to ask the Lord Brahma and goes to Brahmalok.
We can see here that he goes to Brahmalok, which is another lok(world) of different timeline. When he goes there, Lord Brahma was busy in listening to the Musical performances by Gandharvas(people who are expert in dances and other kinds of entertainment acts). So King Kakudmi had to wait till he gains attention of Lord Brahma.
After all the performances are done, King Kakudmi humbly requested to help him. Lord Brahma listens to his problem and starts to laugh loudly. Upon asking, Lord Brahma explains to the king that the time runs different in different planes of existence, the short period for which the king had waited to finish the dance performances is equal to many Yugas on earth, the Lord explained to him that he had passed 27 Chaturyugas( 27* 4 Yugas = 108 Yugas on earth ) and all his relatives on earth are dead.
King kakudmi requests to provide a solution for his daughter's marriage, Lord Brahma says to go to earth now and where he can find a man named "Balaram", who is an incarnation of the great Serpent which carries Lord Vishnu, is the strongest of all men and worthy of your daughter. King kakudmi happily thanks Lord Brahma and visits earth and requests Balram to marry Revati. Hence Balram married to Revati.
Story was quite good but it shows that whatever happened there includes two time planes of existence. I do really get amazed how the people of ancient India were capable of doing so. This seems quite imaginable with the current level of science. Hope you liked the comparison.
