Bad Habits That Causes The Destruction Of The Pharynx and Larynx
It is so alarming the way people have been causing harm to themselves, creating series of infections and diseases ranging from the mild to the chronic ones by not been properly careful with their vocal box(i.e. The Larynx) and their path for food to the stomach(i.e. The Pharynx).
Although, both organ are found in the same location which happens to be the neck but are performing different functions.
The Pharynx
This organ is found in all vertebrates and it is used for the purpose of feeding and respiration. Pharynx makes up the part of the throat which is actually situated immediately behind the nasal cavity, the mouth and above the esophagus and larynx.
For the digestive system,its muscular walls functions to help and aid in the process of swallowing food and it serves as a pathway for the movement of food from the mouth to the esophagus.
Pharynx as part of the respiratory system allows for the movement of air from the nose and mouth to the larynx in the process of breathing
The human pharynx i.e the pharyngeal muscles include an external layer which is conventionally divided into three sections: the superior layer(the nasopharynx), the middle layer (the oropharynx), and also the inferior layer (the laryngopharynx).

This organ on the other hand is commonly called the voice box and it is located in the anterior neck. And it serves for the purpose of producing sound, breathing and also protecting the trachea from aspiring food particles. Hence, this organ is involved in the process of producing vocal sound by the vibration of the vocal folds that is in turn modified by the resonance of the vocal tract(i.e. Phonation) and houses the vocal folds that allow your voice to be heard.
It is situated just below where the tract of the pharynx splits into the trachea and oesophagus and it connects the inferior part of the pharynx (hypopharynx) with the trachea.
The framework of the larynx is made up of cartilage held together by membranes and ligaments. This six cartilages contain three paired and three unpaired supporting the mammalian larynx and form its skeleton. The unpaired cartilage include thyroid cartilages, cricord cartilages and epiglottis while the paired ones include arytenoid cartilages, curniculate cartilage and cuneiform cartilages.
However, human due to their carelessness and practices of bad habits gradually causes destruction to this organs.
Bad Habits Destructing The Larynx and The Pharynx
Holding back a sneeze by pinching your nose while keeping your mouth closed may cause physical injury which can make you suffer a tear at the back of your throat after sneezing while stifling it, by sealing both airways which can me you barely able to speak or swallow causing "considerable pain".
Hence, it is very dangerous to halting sneezing via blocking nostrils and mouth and should be avoided to avoid further complications.Snoring is also a destructive condition that occurs when the air runs rough the pharynx passageway and makes the pharynx vibrate. This condition can be as a result of too much relaxation of the pharynx likewise too much stress.
The mistakenly consumption of food through the wind pipe, when solid/liquid food goes to wind pipe, body immediately tries to expel it which leads to coughing. The breathing may get obstructed and you get chocked.
In other words it can cause long term effects such as damaging the very thin and fine walls and lungs.
Other bad habits include excessive alcohol consumption, poor nutrition, workplace exposure to toxins, such as asbestos, smoking, chewing tobacco etc., which can lead to pharyngeal cancer. This is type of throat cancer affects your larynx and it typically occurs when healthy cells sustain damage and begin to overgrow. These cells can turn into tumors. Laryngeal cancers are tumors that originate in your voice box.
In conclusion
The rate at which the pharynx and larynx organ have been infected is going too high and this is credited to the daily habits that we carelessly cause to ourselves. By putting an end or reducing these habits will keep you healthy, safe and at most alive.
