Ants Canada

in #science7 years ago (edited)

I checked out this week's episode of Ants Canada to find out about another new ant colony started. It is a colony of the well known pest, the carpenter ant. These ants burrow into wood to make their nests. But unlike termites, they do no eat wood. They eat other insects like other ant species. Even though they don't eat the wood, they can weaken wooden structures, so they are considered pests.

A fancy new home was created for the fledgling colony. Watch them do a disappearing act!

Such a dramatic movie! I wrote a post about eating ant eggs in Thailand, but ours live in trees.

I'm coming to you from @kryptonia with the same user name.
