♃ OCCULTIST CORNER #8: Living in the Rhythm of Binaural Beats

How can we define a binaural beat?

Scientifically speaking, a binaural beat is a sound which can be used as a form of brainwave entrainment. This entrainment can be accomplished by the combination of two different tones and each one of those tones has a different frequency.

How could a binaural beat's sound create a brain neuro-stimulation?

An electroencephalography or EEG which records the activity of neurons on different brain states offers valuable information on how a system of neurons functions - synchronised - through a fluctuating frequency and this brainwave activity can be measured in Hertz.

A Binaural Beat is a sound created in a specific frequency -measured in Hertz - which stimulates the brain accordingly. What happens is that two different tones or frequencies may result in a single sound and this is how our ears perceive this particular sound. Actually, binaural means "to hear with two ears", so what we get back as a hearing is a false, yet rhythmic beat of a combined toning frequency which promotes our neurons to function according to our own mental needs.

It is scientifically proven that sounds - even regular sounds - can stimulate certain neuronal systems of a brain. Given that this fact is indeed possible, many people around the world experimented with binaural beats by using them as a form of mental/spiritual therapy - from scientists, psychiatrists, neurologists to simple musicians and so on...

  • You may start experimenting with the opensource binaural-beat generator of Gnaural to create your own healing sounds
  • Audacity is another opensource software that you can use but it seems a little bit more complicated than Gnaural
  • Noisly is not a software where you create Binaural Beats but it's one of my favourites because it helps me get into the zone anytime, relax efficiently and it is also very easy to use.

Before you go and create some beats, read some useful info about frequencies

  1. The Delta Range Frequency is a state associated with deep sleep, trance and hypnosis. So, if you wish to rejuvenate your soul and body by sleeping, lowering your cortisol levels and maximising your immunity to diseases, then create a binaural beat of a Delta band with a frequency of 0.1-4 Hz. However, being in a sleeping state means that you will have some dreams and subconscious messages could be from very calming to very disturbing...
  2. The Theta Range Frequency is a state associated with meditation, creativity, total relaxation and visualisation. Create a Theta brain wave beat with a frequency of  4-8 Hz in order to achieve easier the meditative state, if that's what you are looking for.
  3. The Alpha Range Frequency is a state associated with inspiration, motivation, quick learning and light relaxation. Therefore, prefer an Alpha Range entrainment if what you need is daily short breaks of positive resonance, memory boosting and relaxation.
  4. The Beta Range Frequency is a state associated with an energetic or active condition. Logic, analytical thinking and verbal communication require an efficient Beta wave functionality. Create Beta of High Beta Range entrainment Beats of 14-30 Hz frequencies, if you need to boost focus, performance and productivity.
  5. The Gamma Range Frequency is a state associated with thinking and studying and people with Gamma wave dysfunction seem to have either learning disorders or even low IQ levels. If you are looking for some burst of energy and to also improve your attention on any kind of activity - mental or physical - create a Gamma Band beat of 30-50 Hz.

I would strongly suggest you focus your alternative, sound "healing" therapy on Theta or Alpha Range Frequencies, especially if what you suffer from is; anxiety.

Theta Range promotes spiritual awareness and the human brain seems to mostly reconstruct our false subconscious beliefs that respond to the surface of our conscious brain as anxious behaviour which prevents this awareness. For example; constant thinking or continuous mind chattering.

The Alpha state seems to be the bridge which connects the subconscious (not the deeper subconscious) with the conscious state of our brain.

So, let's say that if you have trouble sleeping because you are anxious about something and you start listening to Delta Frequency Beats; you are most probably wrong (unless you suffer from a chronic insomnia problem which you know that it is caused by some physical reason).

If you are anxious and you can't sleep or your blood pressure reaches high levels when you are nervous, you should first focus on building a stronger superficial subconscious foundation because when this foundation is strong built then anxiety starts reducing until it is almost completely eliminated.

Meditation (Theta range) or light relaxation (Alpha range) solves efficiently anxiety issues while sleep (Delta range) is a way of "blowing steam" through dreams and mostly promotes physical rejuvenation.

If you are too lazy to create your own binaural beats; you may Download our Free Therapeutic Sounds signed by Mind Optimum and published by yours truly, Vivian.

We also call them as inspired music and therapeutic brainwaves created for your self-healing.

They are complete downtempo and chill-out style, MP3 tracks which could help in difficult mental or emotional conditions like addiction, anxiety, depression, lack of focus and energy. Additionally, other audio tracks may promote sleep, memory, meditation and/or relaxation.

We have tested them and they all work fine...you can also listen to a sample before start downloading...
