Often, at sea, the few companions we have are in the air. Birds are the first signals that tell us a nearby land, they are tired travelers coming to rest on the balcony of your boat, and they are animals of extreme precision knowing live in perfect harmony on an element without land support. They are fascinating, I never get tired of watching them. We pay tribute to them this week on #Seaphotography!
Bien souvent, en mer, les rares compagnons que l'on ait sont dans les airs. Les oiseaux sont des les premiers signaux qui nous indiquent une terre proche, sont des voyageurs fatigués venant se reposer sur le balcon de votre voilier, et sont des animaux d'une extrême précision sachant vivre en parfaite harmonie sur un élément sans appui terrestre. Ils sont fascinant, je ne me lasse jamais de les observer. Nous leur rendons hommage d cette semaine sur #Seaphotography !

This impressive bird is a southern giant petrel that we came across on the Antarctic Peninsula last year. Amazingly, this bird was so big that it was trying to grab penguins with it's beak and pinning them underwater to drown them. You get to see some pretty raw animal behaviour down there!

I took this photograph in one of the estuaries of Anzoategui state, where I live, in Venezuela.
These places are colloquially called "mouths", because it is where a river joins the ocean, or rather where it "empties", in this case it is the Unare River that mixes with the Caribbean Sea. This site is considered as an observatory of birds because of the number and diversity of birds that are concentrated there.
In the photo you can see a Red Heron (here they call it "Coro cora") and a "Cotua", flying together just above the junction between the sea and the river.
There the color of the Sea has the peculiarity of being brown because it adopts the tone of the river water and they are also turbid waters, with a lot of waves, that keep the sand agitated.
I used a Canon Rebel EOS T2i camera.

My photograph was at the "Valdez" beach fishing port located on the Isla de Margarita - Venezuela. The birds, the sea and the sunset were in complete harmony for this photograph.
