Moonscape is a resource management DeFi strategy game. Its gameplay centres on a futuristic moon, where players explore the moon's surface, enhance their towns, and receive rewards for their time spent in-game.

The ultimate objective is to survive and thrive on a hostile moon while earning profit for your effort. Players scramble for limited resources to develop their burgeoning cities in the game. In the quest for domination, players can plunder rival cities and collaborate with friendly ones.

We started a series to guide you with a practical approach to the Moonscape game called Moonscape Playthrough Series. The first publication of this playthrough series is available; see former posts. We now have the second publication. This second publication of the Moonscape Dev Playthrough Series will discuss the process and the mode of attack in the Moonscape game.

You have learned from previous publications on the Moonscape Dev Diary that Rover is the machinery required for battle attacks in the Moonscape game. Now, we will see in more practical detail how that is applied.

Attacking Moonscape Cities

Once you enter a city, before attacking, you can click on the city to see the resources available in that city. Remember, there are four energy resources in Moonscape. We have Cryptonium, Decentralite, Yield Stones and Rocket Juice. If a city has the resources you desire, you can attack it. If the resources are low, it can be a waste of time, so you look for another city.

Battle Attack

Before you attack the moonscape game, bear in mind that battles are timed. If the allocated time finishes, the battle scene ends. Resources are being collected during the battle. When the battle mode ends, those resources have been acquired.
You will see a red dome that appears and disappears during city battles. Study the battle gameplay and make your attack when the red dome disappears. The importance of the it is to protect the city from external attacks.

Improving/Upgrading your Rover

We explained buildings and functions in the first two publications of Moonscape Dev Diary. From that study, we learnt that Rover Research could be used to upgrade rover skills.
It is essential to upgrade your rover skills, and this gives you a better fighting chance at both attacking and prolonging the resistance of your Rover to city attacks. To be safe, one of the pre-attack checks you need to do is, to ensure you see your rover stats before moving out for attack. You may feel the need to upgrade before going for an attack.
Each rover skill has two sub-skills that enhance the skill's overall function. When carrying out the rover upgrade, you will see this. The rover skills available for upgrade include:

Offence — This heightens the fatality of each strike you make. With Attack and Rate as sub-skills, the Rover reloads faster and can launch more missiles.
Resistance — This describes the health of your Rover while in battle. The speed is for rover locomotion, and HP is for rover life.
Precision — This improves your Rover's aim during an attack. Its sub-skills are Accuracy which makes it easier for you to land a fatal strike with each attack and Range, aiming your target from farther distances.
Weapons — This doesn't need much explanation; it describes your arsenal. In the game, we have Missiles and Railgun. Missiles are effective for attack because they can attack a city even with the Dome's defences. A railgun is an effective tool, too; it has an automatic aiming and attacking mechanism. You do not need the triangular aim to hit a good target whenever you hold your spacebar or fire button with the rail gun.

To use your missiles or railgun weapon, you will need to select the building you want to attack before making your strike. If the building is not selected, you will not be able to fire.

Note: A rover skill is limited to the level cap of the building. This means a rover cannot be on a level 3 skill when the building is on the level. You will have to upgrade the building first to upgrade the rover skill.

Also, as a player, always be ready to defend your city in case of an attack. If you are attacked too many times and lose most of your city's resources, your city will disappear from the map.
