Cox did not even follow the basic security measures to keep their customers secure and left all their devices vulnerable to unsophisticated hacks.
The hack was discovered by Sam Curry while investigating an earlier hack he had experienced. The lesson is that we cannot trust these companies to take our security + privacy seriously and we need to do what we can to take control. I wish DePIN will make things better!
