From Seed To Fruit Update 6 - Apples

in #seedlings3 years ago

Update 6 brings us some bad,sad news. Patty Appleseed seems to have taken ill and just flopped over without warning. Yesterday, and even last night she seemed to be doing fine, but when I looked this morning she had lost her rigidity and has just drooped over. I've never encounter this problem before and will have to do some research to see if there is anything I can do, or if there is something I'm doing wrong.

Whats wrong with you girl?

Is this the end for Patty?

Did a little digging and from what I've learned, this issue is usually caused by over watering the plants or poor drainage, basically Patty is drowning. I definitely have not over watered, in fact the soil has remained wet since I first added water to the coco coir block, and I haven't had to water, so the problem must be drainage.

Upon further introspection, the problem may have been that I should have let the soil dry a little before planting the seedlings, but they needed to be planted in order to be given a chance. It was a lose, lose scenario. All thats really left to be said is R.I.P. Patty Appleseed.

I was rooting for her. Sorry to hear about the sad outcome!

These things happen, especially when dealing with new variables (the soil). Hopefully I can learn from it and do better in the future. Thanks for reading.
