The Definition of Climate Change and Its Impact on Bangladesh!

in #self-power5 years ago

Hello Dear Steemians!

Here I am Zyanf coming with my Submission for Upmewhale Writing Contest! Global Warming and Climate Change, What Can Be Done? Contest hosted by @upmewhale. Actually I don't know everything about the whole world. But I know about the Impacts of Climate Change in Bangladesh. That's why Today I am coming to share my opinion about the present situation of Bangladesh during Climate Change.

The Impacts of Climate Change in Bangladesh

Climate change has become a common affair day by day. It strikes panic into every soul. The whole world is more or less affected by it. Specially the developing and underdeveloped countries are hard hit by it. Ironically enough, these countries contribute to climate change the least but they suffer for it the most.

Climate change refers to the change in weather pattern including temperature, wind and rainfall. More importantly, it indicates rise in temperature of the earth's atmosphere because of the increase of particular gases. The gases are carbon dioxide, methane, and chlorofluorocarbon. The gases responsible for climate change are called greenhouse gases. The destruction of forests, traffic gridlock/jam in city streets, rapid growth of industries, use of CFC are the causes of greenhouse effect.

Greenhouse effect is the gradual warming of the air around the earth because of the heat being trapped as a result of environmental pollution. Burning down of fossil and fuel dumping of filth and waste in open space, discharge of industrial waste and toxic materials into the rivers and canal also contribute to the increase of greenhouse gases.

Bangladesh is vulnerable to the threats of climate change. It is a low lying country. Its total area of forest is not enough. Unfortunately, her environment is being destroyed every moment. As a result, the country may experience the following challenges.

IMG_20200202_014752.jpg

Bangladesh will face the fury of the Bay of Bengal because of climate change. The sea level will rise and flood nearly 17 percent of our total land area. Crops will be badly damaged and famine will break out. There will be scarcity of pure drinking water. One-fifth of our total population will be homeless. As a result of climate change, Bangladesh is being affected by frequent natural disasters in recent ongoing Floods, cyclones, tidal bores, excessive rainfall, river erosion and drought are common forms of natural disasters.

Bangladesh experiences a devastating flood every four year. On the other hand cyclones like Sidr and Aila have become a common affair. The cyclones often accompany tidal bores. Drought affects 20-46 percent land of the country. The average temperature of the country will rise up to 2 degree Celsius by 2050. As a result, the sea water will flood the crop field and salinity will increase. Food production will drop significantly. Rice production will drop up to 10 percent and wheat production 30 percent. The climate change continues unchecked. Bangladesh will face terrible consequences. The whole country will go under water one day. The country named Bangladesh will disappear from the world map. There will be no sign of flora and fauna. The whole world should work together to address the burning issue of the time.

We should stop deforestation and start afforestation at national level. At the same time, we should take necessary steps to minimise the emission of greenhouse gases. In summing up, we can conclude that the whole world is faced with the threat of extinction because of climate change. If effective steps are not taken immediately, the world will turn into a great desert. The developing countries should make a fervent appeal to the developed countries to cut the emission of greenhouse gases for a green world.

Climate Change at a Glance

Climate change is the changes in the earth's weather including changes in temperature, wind patters and rainfall. Especially it refers to the increase in the temperature of the earth's atmosphere due to the increase of greenhouse gases. It is caused by the destruction and burning down of tropical rain forests, by traffic that clogs up city streets, by the rapid growth of industry, the use of CFCs in packing and manufacturing commercial products, the use of detergents and so on.

However, the main culprits for global warming are carbon dioxide gas, produced by the burning of fossil fuels and forests, and pollutants such as methane and chlorofluorocarbons. Besides, climate change causes natural disasters like flood cuclone etc. Thus all the flora and fauna of our environment have become vulnerable to climate change. But the worst sufferers of it are the people of developing and under developed countries.

The breaking news about Bangladesh is that as a result of the rise of the sea level, the lower southern part of the country may one day go under water. To keep the world habitable, we
must put a stop to climate change. For this, we need to minimize the emission of greenhouse gases. At the same time, we must plant more and more trees to increase our forest land. Above all, raising mass awareness about the impacts of climate change we can contribute a lot to stop this.

Are these images yours, taken by you??

Yes, these all are captured by me. I just added them from my laptop to my mobile. I participated in a Climate Change based competition last year. I clicked them for that Competition. Thank you.
