Opportunity Cost

in #self6 years ago

This should be taught to every child as soon as they can understand it. It should be part of the knowledge that helps them understand.
Every thing we do comes with a price. Even when we do nothing, it is costing something. Every day we have opportunities. We have to choose.
Which ones do we prioritize? Which ones will bring us closer to our big picture goals? Which ones can harm us?
It is easy to answer simple questions but how good are you in abstract thinking? Can you picture the empty space around the thing you see or want? The empty space represents opportunity cost.
When you choose to do something (or nothing), you are paying for it by not doing something else. You dont see it, but it is always there.
Since we only get a small amount of time in life, those choices have to be contemplated carefully.
Everything you do should add some benefit of some kind. It could be joy, wealth or service. Destroying is easier than building. This is why so many people choose this activity over the more challenging ones.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Choose wisely, so the future willl be grateful you were here first.
