Stay Healthy till you are over Eighty Years Old and Beyond

in #seven6 years ago

The Story of my Personal Experience.

This is my personal experience of staying healthy and I wish to share with as many people as possible.
Everybody claims that life is short. Do you think so?

I do not think so. I have enjoyed almost eighty years of my life and I am still very fit and playing good social tennis.
I still keep writing and contributing to the well-being of people. If you have not read my last two motivation books:
The Journey through Four Seasons of Life and Consciousness of Abundance, go to www.sinmongwong.com to get a glimpse of the books.

Everything Comes Late to Me but I do not give up in Despair.

Instead late in life becomes my motivating force to do well in life.

I went to Secondary School at the age of 16 and I still made it to university at the age of 26.
I graduated with a science degree majoring in mathematical physics at the age of 30 and started as Sixth Form mathematics teacher in La Salle High School in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. I was an ordinary Sixth Form mathematics teacher for about eight to ten years until the Director of the school Brother Lawrence recognized my service and asked me to become the school principal. I served as the school developer and principal for the last eight to ten years after Brother Felix (the last brother director). The school grew in status and physical facilities during my term as principal until took my optional retirement at the age of 51 to finish my doctorate degree at University of Queensland.

I loved teaching and helping many students and relatives achieving their dreams and goals.
I had an extended family (brothers , sisters, nephews and in laws' children staying with me while I was a teacher) and I helped them in their education and financial aspects.

I needed financial support to keep the extended family afloat.
Writing and giving week-end tuitions became my routine and these activities provided the extra income for us to survive.

I didn't know I was so popular as a writer and a tutor until fortune started to smile at me.
I believe I was not only a good mathematics teacher but also a good writer. And many of my Sixth Form students and relatives under my care made it to the university. During my short period of about ten or fifteen years I had written almost two dozen mathematics textbooks and guide books.
These contributions laid the foundation of my life of abundance. (You can read my second book Consciousness towards Abundance.) This is the picture taken when I left my beloved school and displays in the school hall of fame as an ex-principal.

At the age of 52, I joined University of Queensland and finished my doctorate degree three years later.
I kept teaching and writing to keep busy and active.

How do I keep fit and healthy all these years?

Just to share some of my past history. I was a state basketball player representing Penang and Kedah states.
I also represented Malaysia in many international games while I was student. As a veteran, I also played for Malaysia in many international veteran games until I was over 50 years old.

This vigorous games laid the foundation for my good health and I kept playing tennis until today at the age of almost 80.

#1 This is a first secret to keep healthy.

Take up a game you love seriously and play regularly. How to fall in love with the game you like?
This is my first secret how I manage to keep healthy and active throughout my life. I made use of the
Four Steps Mastery Formula to become a good basketball player.
What are the Four Steps? (Read in detail from my book, Consciousness towards Abundance).

Number One:
Get all the information and knowledge of the game you like and digest them.

Number Two:
Keep repeating the skills required to be a good player daily. (The world number one tennis player Naomi Osaka's father made her hitting all the required shots to be a good player thousand times daily).

Number Three:
Get help from couches and experts to help you master than correct skills.

Number Four:
Develop your mindset to be a good player and you are on the way to become a good player.

These Four essential steps helped me to become an outstanding basketballer and
now a good social tennis player even I am 80 years old.

#2 My Secret Number Two to keep healthy

Forming good habits can have very good beneficial effects on your health.

The habit of drinking about 750ml of cold water when I wake up in the morning. If you can add a little bit of lemon juice to your water it would be fantastic. This habit keeps me away from cough and many other illnesses like cold and influenza. Once the habit is formed it becomes your daily duty to fulfill. If you do not believe me, try it and you will benefit.

Drink coconut water if you have the chance. Whenever I visit Thailand and Malaysia, I use to stop at the roadside and drink coconut water. Young coconut water is full of minerals and nutrients beneficial to your health.

#3 Secret Number Three to keep healthy

Learn to laugh whenever you can. I use to laugh and smile when I meet people I like. This secret
of happy people is laughing whenever they can and enjoy. If you can't laugh, you are not healthy.
I have benefited from my laughter daily:

  1. Laughter lowers my blood pressure.

  2. It reduces stress hormone level.

  3. It tones your abs. When you are laughing, the muscles in your stomach expand and contract, similar to when you intentionally exercise your abs.

  4. It improves cardiac health.

  5. It boosts T cells. T-cells are specialized immune system cells just waiting in your body for activation.

  6. It triggers the release of endorphins. By laughing, you can release endorphins, which can help ease chronic pain and make you feel good all over.

  7. It produces a general sense of well-being. A positive outlook on life tend to fight diseases better than people who tend to be more negative. So smile, laugh, and live longer!

#4 Secret Number Four to keep Healthy

Get enough sleep daily. I use to go to bed at 11.00 pm and get up at 6 am to write my articles and books. Now at almost 80, I sleep for half and hour in the afternoon whenever I feel tire.

Sleep can lower your blood pressure. Higher blood pressure increases your chances of heart attacks and strokes, but getting plenty of restful sleep encourages a constant state of relaxation that can help reduce blood pressure and generally keep it under control.
Go to Goggles to find out the TEn benefits of enough sleep especially for older people.

Take a look of the current prime minister of Malaysia Dr Mahathir who is 93 years old and
even he needs plenty of sleep. He works too hard and dozes off during a speech by other.
He works 12 hours a day and that keeps him alive and active.

You need plenty of Sunlight and activities to keep healthy.
Live an outdoor life and keep exercise like running or walking even you are old. Play a game like tennis regularly
is one of the best ways to keep healthy.

From treating skin conditions to improving mood, sunlight has many benefits. If you live in higher latitudes with little sunlight, a light box may provide some of its mood-boosting benefits. Because excess sun exposure is linked with increased skin cancer risk, don't stay outside too long without sunscreen.

#7 Secret Number Seven to keep healthy

The will and purpose to live is essential for your good health. Look at the prime minister of Malaysia. He is 93 years old and when he saw his successor robbing his country he came back and defeated his protege in the general election May 9 2018. His new coalition 'Pakatan Harapan' is made up of 4 parties (3 of them) which were his former enemies.
Old people (other than cancer or heart attack) die when they lose the will and purpose to live.
