India vs England Live Score, 2nd Test, Day 3: Mohammed Shami Impresses But England Lead By Over 50 Runs
Pacer Mohammed Shami struck in the final over before lunch as India reduced England to 89 for four on Day 3 of the second Test at Lord's. After an average start by the bowlers on the third day, Indian pace duo of Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami improved their line and length as time wore on, creating a few problems for the English batsmen. Both England openers Keaton Jennings (11) and Alastair Cook (21) got out in quick succession and England at one stage were 32 for the loss of 2 wickets. But skipper Joe Root along with debutant Ollie Pope steadied England and steered the team out of trouble. But just as the 45-run partnership was looking strong, Hardik Pandya trapped Ollie Pope (28) in front of the stumps to give India a crucial breakthrough. Joe Root (19) too got out on the fourth ball of the 24th over as umpires decided to go for lunch immediately after. England still trail India by 18 runs in the first innings.
