The Sharing Economy

in #sharing8 years ago (edited)

Companies like uber, lyft Air Bnb among others are the new companies that are making us rethink the way we use our resources in our daily lives. Needles to say there is a lot of people using these apps on a daily basis but we have only began to scratch the surface on to a whole new economic structure that has never been seen before. In the age of information it is important to note that there are far more efficient ways of conducting business than has been previously done. The digital age is rapidly taking over our world and leaving the old ways of doing business behind. In just the last 10 years or so companies like netflix and redbox have put movie rental companies into the ground , and now we are starting to see the same thing happen with uber and taxi companies. And the truth is that it will not take long for these technologies to take over. In this day in age it is much easier to open an app and wait a few minutes for an uber. Then to wait for a taxi and still have to pay an average a higher price than uber. Air bnb allows you to make an extra income from a room your not using , and is also a much cheaper alternative than a hotel when your traveling . This is just the first examples of how technology is changing how we use our resources . The mega corporations of tomorrow are no longer going to be mega hotel chains, taxi companies or franchises but software companies. The sharing economy is proving that money , resources and services can be better redistributed among the general public instead of the hands of a few major corporations who set the prices. It is my belief that the sharing economy is just the first step into a new paradigm of where resources , services and good will be distributed more efficiently.
