RE: A Shirt on Sunday: Waco - 9/11/2019 - Hard Rock Hell 2019
The female/male ratio would have been better had Ravenbreed's singer not quit, and would have ticked the transgender category :) There was another band with a female singer that I don't mention as my notes from the day say 'female singer', which is not very enlightening as to their quality.
There were a lot of women in the audience as the demographic for HRH events is older than for most gigs, and thus there's a lot of couples out for the weekend.
I saw a thing on social media this week that quoted a festival organiser as saying they'd love to bring in more women to play, but there aren't that many women in rock/pop. Which is a fair point. The ethnic diversity score for HRH was pretty poor as well, but again - the music is mainly listened to and played by, white blokes. Which is why I always try to see and support any band that deviates from the norm.
The t-shirts were apparently only tie-dyed the day before and they felt damp - the fixative hadn't been washed out!
Lovely shirt though - I haven't picked up tie-dye in ages!
The demographic at a lot of gigs I go to seems to be older white men. My daughter was at a three band gig at Alexandra Palace last week where they were all at least female fronted then she and her mum went to see the musical Six that is all female. So we may achieve some balance between us :)
