When shit hits the fan - ya better be prepared
Have I been mentioning that I have been working in a seasonal job the last months?
If not, here it goes.
So I have been working in Switzerland for the last two and a half months, as a seasonal worker at a restaurant on one of the mountains here, 2500 m above sea level.
This little village I'm living in right now is a very popular ski- and snowboard resort here in Switzerland.
The place is super nice and cozy, our flat is great and the job sounded awesome. And it was - for like the first 3-4 weeks.
Until shit hit the fan.
Gradually, but steady we got more and more under-staffed, because the bosses were just incapable of communicating properly, of treating us like human beings, and in general they were just not being able to lead a team of people who are willing to work - but can’t because of the circumstances.
Being under staffed meant: the days were getting longer for the people who were still there and the workload got bigger and bigger. The days we should have gotten off to rest and relax, got rarer and the stress level was on the rise.
All of that is really sad, cause the people I was working with were really nice and the job itself wasn’t bad at all, it was actually fun.. until it wasn’t.
As a result of how the place was managed - or the lack thereof - the guests started complaining about the things that were not going well, which is totally understandable.
They come here to have fun, to spend there maybe hard earned money and to have a nice experience with there family.
But being totally exhausted from not having days off when we should have, from working long days and the mental "torture" from the bosses, it was nearly impossible to keep that frown upside down.
And that's why I wasn't writing here after just starting. I simply had no energy to do anything after work than eat something and fall into bed.
The job was draining my energy levels underground. My personal life was close to zero and if I ever got time - I was unhappy about the situation I was in. Not a cool energy to be around, I can tell you that much.
So I quit the job and freed myself.
And you know what?
It was one of the best decisions!
I feel so free now, so relieved, so relaxed already. I still need to charge my batteries fully, but that will probably happen within the next few days.
Until then my friends, whenever the shit hits the fan in your life, make sure to either get a good place to hide, bring appropriate clothes, or make sure you get out of the situation.
You don't have to suffer through everything.
Read you soon, take care and thanks for taking the time to read!
Cheers, Sabrina
