The Short-Story Block Chain Experiment

in #short-story7 years ago (edited)
Hello Steemians with a flair for writing!

The Experiment

This is an experiment in tapping creativity on the block chain and how multiple authors can work together to build an amazing story.

Recently, I posted a short story called "Buzz" that I wrote in sequence with an email partner over 20 years ago.  It was a lot of fun and the story took on a life of it's own from different points of view and interesting twists and turns.  This made building the story fun and challenging!

I want to work with you and develop a new fictional story here on the block chain with multiple authors!  All you need is a little creativity and sense of adventure to see how multiple authors can work together to create something new and exciting, a total Steemit Story!

If you have an interest in becoming part of this experiment, all you need to do is follow me, and reply below with your desire to participate and I will follow you back.  In turn, when a new author posts an installment to the story follow them and they should follow you back when you post your installment.

Guidelines for The Story Experiment

  • Each author builds on the story a few paragraphs at a time
  • Authors simply copy the previous installment, add to the story and re-title the post "Title - Installment x+1"
  • Each steemit author should follow every other author so you don't lose track of the story-line

You can take a look at my previous post below which was written over email with just one other writing partner.  It was fun!

I am super interested to know your thoughts and suggestions.  When a few authors reveal themselves in the reply section of this post, I will begin the first instalment.

I'm in on that. It sounds fun. I've done pretty well for myself with shorts over the years, but I've never collaborated. This is the time to try, I think.

Count me in.

Curious question.. will the writing be done as a round robin effect? as in we have a specific posting order?

No, I believe whomever feels ready to contribute should be able to since order can sometimes stifle creativity but I do see the conflict if multiple authors create the next installment. This is after all mostly an experiment. Thanks Valareos I think I may need to re-think this.

An idea then..

  1. People give their intent to write the next installment as a comment in previous one (first come first serve)

  2. If you have written one of the last 3 installments, need to wait 24 hours after the latest installment done to claim the next installment (try to spread it out)

  3. Writers will have a set time to be able to write the installment (so we not hanging around waiting for a promised piece)

Excellent suggestions valareos and I think they should be incorporated into the guidelines. I would like to give this post one more week to allow a few more potential writers to come forth.
