My favorite short films #1 || Alternative Math
What is nice about short films you can learn and have fun watching a piece of a story in a few minutes. The majority of them have morals at the end. I want to share with you "Alternative Math".
Danny is a kid who is having some trouble with additions. He got a bad score on his Math test and his teacher tried to be patient with him. The kid's parents came to talk with her about the Math problems of Danny. They just ignore her and poke fun at their kid's problem. Things are not going well when Danny's mom hits the teacher; besides, instead of the school principal defends the professor, she got fired.
This short film shows us the problem of political correctness in the education of kids. Being so permissive to give the reason to parents against facts, like Math, for example. Sometimes, being open-minded doesn't mean being right. Society is becoming more complicated nowadays, I guess it's happening around the world.
By luck, the teacher, our main character, took advantage of the situation to get good economical compensation for all the problems she got due to the manager's school and parents. In the end, she beat them with their weapons.
Some years ago I would find this movie funny but now its rather terrifying, as the world is becoming to look exactly like that. We can see how insanity is getting worse. Perhaps this film is just trying to be sarcastic; however, it makes us reflect if we are doing well or not.
In conclusion, this short film made me very uneasy but I enjoyed it a lot. Hope you like it as well.
