BEING SINGLE ISNT ALL THAT BAD
With the amount of wedding pictures and relationship posts on the web right now, it seems like the single ones are actually missing out on life. People are getting hitched faster than one can imagine, while on the other side of it, people are getting dumped just as fast, if not faster. In the US, the percentage of single people moved from fifty-two percent in 2004 to sixty-four percent in 2014, that’s a twelve percent increase in ten years and for the first time in the history of the U.S. married people are now outnumbered by singles. There is no better time to be single.
Being married is very good, I do not mean otherwise, but it is also a fact that we are not all meant for relationships. Some people do not do well with other people, especially the other sex, while others find it hard to stay in a relationship, they grow tired of being with the same person. One mistake that a lot of people make is that their partner will meet all their needs. We all have our various needs which needs to be met. So, in a relationship, we look to our partners to fulfill these needs, which isn’t always possible.
Again we come from different works of life, different backgrounds, different values, different morals, the list goes on and on. Merging these differences is what relationships are all about but this is not always possible as change is very difficult. We go out of our comfort zones to satisfy our partner and accommodate things which normally we would not accommodate. At a point in time, the body rejects these things as it is not used to it and the partners start to have issues. This is one of the reasons partners separate. They give it nice names to butter it up, things like “Irreconcilable differences” have been used to express these differences in human character and background.
There is a misguided assumption that being single causes one to be lonely. Loneliness is a very awry place and a dangerous cause of stress, however it is very wrong to assume that, being single cause’s loneliness. Single people can work on building themselves. There’s all the time in the world to develop themselves. They also do not need to rely on anyone but themselves and that is what independence is about.
All I’m saying is that, it is not the end of the world if you are single. Instead, invest in building yourself up.Thanks to @therealsmat for the inspiration.
