Skimountaineering to the Wetterspitze (South Tyrol, Italy)

On the 12-March-2019 we went up to the top of Wetterspitze starting in Maiern, Ridnauntal. It is the ascent from the south side which I did not know until that day. I just went up some years ago from the north side (Pflerschtal). We started hiking up with our skis on the backpack, but after 150 vertical meter we could step in and go on with the skis under our feet. Short time later we left the trees and stand in front of a nice valley which leads to the steep last ascent to the Maurerscharte, where we left our skis and went on by foot.

It was very steep and we put on our crampons. An hour later or so, we stood on top of the Wetterspitze.

The descent was a nice ride - and I again went back to Maurerscharte (400 vertical meters) to ride that part down again. It was a great pleasure.
