How To Vote For a SmartCash Proposal Using the QT Wallet

in #smartcash6 years ago

As a SmartCash holder running SmartNodes, I've been meaning to get more involved in SmartCash governance. I finally got around to voting and took some screenshots to walk you though the process as well.

Here's a proposal I'm voting on:

If you want to vote for a proposal (for or against), just scroll down to the votes section and click cast vote:

You'll see this screen asking for the address you're voting from and your signature of the message:

This is the beauty of public/private key encryption. This signature guarantees the owner of the tokens at this address is the only one who can sign this message and verify the weight of their vote.

To vote, open up your SmartCash QT wallet and select Sign Message from the File menu.

Find the address you want to sign with, paste in the message you want to sign, and then click Sign Message:

Paste that back into the SmartCash voting portal popup window and vote as you like.

That's it!

You can also vote using the SmartCash web wallet, but that's so easy no tutorial is needed:

@lukestokes this is great. The interesting thing is there is currently being tested the new version of the QT wallet which makes voting so much easier and all from your wallet! No more copy and paste needed. Hopefully it goes live soon. Just wait for 1.2.4it will make all the difference and hopefully more engagement from the community on Hive proposals.

I've heard something about this as well. Sounds exciting!

I cant even make my SC-wallet sync anymore :S

Are you on the latest version? If so, run it with the resync command.

I'm not sure, probably not. My wallet seems to be 'stuck' and no longer synchronising. I searched the SC fora but couldn't find any good answers for this. Plus i'm kinda noobish in this sort of stuff, so I only take action with full how-to-guides! :P

Ask around in the Discord channel. They are super helpful, and I'm sure they can get you up and running again.

Thanks for the info! I have a small position in Smart Cash that I plan on adding to throughout the rest of the year. I would like I get more involved in the proposal process. I’m excited to see the development of Smart Cash over the coming years!

It’s a pretty fantastic project when you consider everything they are doing with regards to smart proposals and give teams to engage the community.

Thank you! I'm still trying to learn about the benefits of SmartCash and this was very helpful! Upvoted!

@lukestokes I bought quite a bit of smartcash due to one of your much earlier post, and after sitting on it for the last few months I've been considering running my own node, is there any advice you could give me? Such as is it worth it return wise? How many nodes would be needed to make it profitable? Etc etc any insight from you would be appreciated thanks.

My previous posts have details on setting up smart nodes as well as links to smart node calculators which you can use to guesstimate things. Just keep in mind the values change all the time so the projections aren’t that accurate (they trend lower than the calculator from what I’ve seen).

great work and beautiful pic sir....

You re a teacher,u made simple it and clear longlifesmsrtcash

Thanks for the information. I recently set up a SmartCash SmartNode. I have been learning a lot but still have a lot more to learn.

Does a vote mean that you are financially supporting the project or that you approve the project to request support?

It's just using your stake weighted vote to say, "Yes, I think this proposal should be funded using the community fund." The community fund gets filled with tokens from block rewards, so you're not spending your own money, but voting on how the community funds should be sent.

Damn, just realised wise-mind like you are one of the smartcash communities as well. Just feel more comfortable with my recent investment lol.

Creativity!!
