At this point, I would have to say that Steem has the nod over Steem-Engine. I am not sure how many nodes are running Steem-Engine at this point. Over time, I feel that will level out as SE adds more nodes.
The more nodes, typically the better the security.
Of course, the flip side is, thus far, Steem is more likely a target as opposed to SE. Few outside of here are even aware SE exists.
Here is a prime example where a little patience is required. When a project team has so many different priorities, it takes a while to move through the list.
