RE: The SteemMakerCoin - a Smart Media Token for SteemMakers

in #smt7 years ago

Thanks for a very interesting read.
I have read many articles on SMT but your brainstorming on how to actually use it in practice for the @steemmakers community makes it more clear how it could be used to grow special interest communities using the SMT tokens.

We are a small community (@solikyl) in Gothenburg, Sweden working around a project aimed at reducing food waste. We decided to join STEEM to share our experiences and hopefully inspire others to care about this growing food waste issue.

As you mentioned STEEM has its limitations, one of them creates this "Fast-food" content mentality, which in many ways is the root to problems with unsustainable systems.

Our goal is to inform, educate and inspire to action rather then the endless consumption of content.

This article is a great inspiration for us and will serve as a guide how SMT tokens could be used in our community.

Im looking forward to learn more about your project.
We wish the SteemMakers community all the best, keep on making and spreading the knowledge.

I could see lots of use cases for SMT's that are only local like in your case. As soon as a community is growing big enough that a "trust" framework like a Blockchain can help organize and incentivize good behavior.

Yes, in our use case its mostlly local, but we got inspired by a much larger community in Germany called foodsharing.de. They are currently building foodsaving.world a tool to facilitate food saving world wide.

And so there are possibilities for SMT powered communities to grow beyond local.

An example could be to incentivice anyone, anywhere on the planet to get rewared by spreading awarness about the food waste issue, or taking action in reducing it.
