Meet Up With Another Sndboxer, @kymio!
Finally had a chance to meet up with @kymio, who is apparently an architect as well and also a very passionate guy that promotes sketching (the founder of KL Sketchnation). That night we talked about work, market, his work on KL Sketchnation, my direction and many other topics. The session is really uplifting as I could sense how driven he is in putting his plan into place and work it out.
His PhD study revolves around art appreciation through sketching. Through sketching, we are able to understand the background history and culture of a place and hence create a connection with the place. This ties closely with his intention to start KL Sketchnation as well which he believes that it is a basic human right to be able to sketch and express themselves. Then, once people learn about appreciation, the quality of life can be elevated as people will start to look around their lifestyle and want to improve.
When we talk about architecture, we talk about our own dreams and vision. However, it is important that the dream and vision are shared with the people and not only by a closed circle of people. Without the ability to appreciate life, especially like the buildings and environment around us, it is hard for the architects to serve the community but to soullessly reproduce the same product again and again like houses.
In a way, it is good for the industry to grow as modular comes with the ease of scalability. Nonetheless, as time changes, Industry 4.0 is upon us whereby customization will eventually pick up and become the new norm. This will be the potential ground for the architects to rise again and get their work appreciated directly by the consumers. Besides, that is what we always wanted to do which is to serve directly to the people.
Later on, @kymio also shared about how he started KL Sketchnation and what he had gone through to make the NGO what it is today. I would say, the journey is pretty tough and not everyone could stay until the end. That is what makes me believes that as long as you have the belief on something that could change the lives of many, the sense of purpose will drive us to do something, regardless how hard it is. I would say that Malaysia is still a land of opportunity whereby we just need to brace ourselves up for challenges and find the way with the sense of purpose as our compass. This will ensure us never get lost along the journey.
Well, I can say that there are limitless opportunities for us to explore as long as we are driven to realize the dreams. At the very end of our session together, we suggested that all of the Malaysia @sndbox kaki can gather and brainstorm for an impactful project to do together and make it a sustainable thing to run that could serve not only the Steemit community but also the people of Malaysia, Southeast Asia and even the world! So, let’s see when will be the next big gathering?
Get to see this custom made product by KL Sketchnation team, unique watercolor sketchbook with a price of RM25! Super deal, should have bought from @kymio that night to start my sketch again. Mau satu for the next meetup boleh tak?
Have not really gather all the @sndbox kaki before of Malaysia, @bitrocker2020, @zord189, @howtostartablog, @sireh, @crypto3d, @alvinauh, @elizacheng, @aaronleang and @danieldoughty. (hope I didn't miss out anyone :P )

Eh, don't like that bro.
Such thorough and accurate writeup even without even taking any notes that time im delightfully surprised! Lol 😂😂 thank you for your time it was definitely a great borak session and we should do this more often with others too! Eh i wanted to give u the sketchbook that night actually but i forgotten! Next time ill give it to u ah 😁😁
Haha, should have a notepad to record :P Remembered some salient points and quickly wrote it right after I had my breakfast. Nice borak session indeed, love your passion as well and it is contagious. @bitrocker2020 just suggested a #jommakan session whereby we go somewhere to makan and talk about the surrounding built environment. Guess it is something that both of us could work around. Makan, sketch and borak (3 in 1).
Jio another time soon then, haha about the sketchbook, I can purchase la. Can help you promote as well :) become your distributor.
