Snow, Body, Mind & Balance

I have been practising snowboarding since the early 2000's and this has given me some time to experiment with gravity, body dynamics and balance.

Nature is the noblest teacher and in this landscape one can playfully grow and flourish.

Mountains always evoked a feeling of awe and admiration in me and it was there I recognised a pure ground for training the mind, body and soul connection.

Snow creates a seamless white pattern where mainly lines and curves, in their utmost simplicity, are seen.

There one is immersed in the various elements.

To be able to slide down a slope requires one to be strong and fluid at the same time.

A combination of Wood and Water.

While maintaining these two elements as our base, some Fire is also needed to keep the body warm and going when in cold temperatures.

Then Air comes, in the form of speed and creates the need for balance of ones motion on a board so as to perform various stunts or even just a curve.

And last but not least Ether, that is everywhere, appearing in its most pure white crystal form.

Sliding down a slope is an act of courage as it invites one to find ever new ways to flow.

Never one line is the same as another, and even the snow condition differs each time.

The only thing one needs to do is keep finding new ways to let flow express, uninterrupted.

Sometimes the body may be tense and others more loose while at the same time the rider plays with speed and quickly adapts to the newly trodden terrain, like a dancer that always improvises the next move on uncharted grounds.

Balancing on a board is like a child's play. It inspires a playful way to study the body, our compass for the universe, and be there at the present moment.

And what a present that is!

Loads of gratitude and love to all the people who have been there throughout all these years to play, explore, share and have fun.
